CEPI responded to the European Commission’s consultation on the Creative Europe Programme

As part of the European Commission’s public consultation on the Interim Evaluation of Creative Europe 2021-2027, CEPI has submitted its feedback, underscoring the crucial role the programme plays in supporting independent producers and fostering European creativity and cultural diversity. CEPI recognizes the invaluable impact of the Creative Europe programme and MEDIA sub-programme in supporting the development, production and circulation of  European audiovisual works.

Looking ahead, the programme must continue its mission to support the cultural and creative sector efficiently, promoting its diversity. A stronger budget is necessary to support the challenges faced by indepednent producer, and avoid any risk dillution of support in light of the increase of the scope of the programme. This strong prinicple is essential to ensure that the existing funding for audiovisual production is maintained, safeguarding independent producers and the cultural and artistic richness that their projects bring to the European creative landscape.

CEPI reaffirms that the core objectives of the Creative Europe programme must be maintained, centered on cultural and artistic goals. This approach is essential to maintain the cultural diversity of Europe, especially with by ensuring that smaller Member States and their creative voices are well represented. It is imperative that the programme continues to support a diversity of European stories, languages, and creative perspectives, maintaining Europe’s cultural heritage and distinctiveness in a globalized world. Greater  dialogue with the industry, and especially independent producers, will highly contribute to the success of the programme, ensuring that it meets the needs of the industry and effectively meet its objectives.

CEPI remains committed to ensuring that the Creative Europe programme remains a cornerstone of European cultural policy, supporting independent producers, and the rich diversity of European voices. By advocating for more transparency, better representation, and a stronger focus on core objectives, CEPI looks forward to contributing to the programme's continued success in shaping the future of Europe’s creative industries.
